i-Transport and UATP Conference and Exhibition
“Implementing and Managing Integrated and Sustainable Transport Systems by Aligning Transport, Land-use and Economic Planning”
Go Green – Go Smart Conference
The Plenary Session was opening by the Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi, followed by the Secretary General of the International Public Transport Association (UITP), Mr Mohamed Mezghani. The countries represented by the subsequent speakers included South Africa, Namibia, Germany, Botswana, UAE and the UK to give a wide-ranging perspective of transport developments.
At the Conference Dinner the biennial ITS Award for Excellence was awarded to WhereIsMyTransport (WIMT). The other nominations were Mobility Centre Africa, GoMetro and Rea Vaya.
Reflecting on integrated, seamless transport, the conference structure moved away from two parallel streams for ITS and Public Transport and instead had combined sessions on Mobility as a Service (MaaS), Big Data, Sustainability in Transport, Moving People and Making it Work.
Log-in details will be circulated to conference delegates to access the presentations.
A Master Class (Changing from being a Consultant to Become a Strategic Advisor) and a Site Visit (titled Road and Rail) to the Gibela rail manufacturing plant and the Sanral Central Operations Centre were hosted on the pre-conference day.
